Decided to continue beyond the Pali Puka today to explore and document the trails beyond. Just past the puka the trail traversed a muddy region and then broke right into a class 4 climb with many ropes and roots to cling onto for the steepest section. Was easily navigated with meticulous foot placement and solid handholds. Too cloudy and wet to permit further exploration beyond the first peak, will defer to another day! Trail overview here, very short & steep.
Have to be surefooted here, this is the cliff where “over 700 Oʻahu warriors either jumped or were pushed over the edge of the Pali” to their deaths. This is a death drop for sure, lucky there is some good rooted bushes on the Honolulu side that you can use if the wind picks up.
And a lovely sunset to cap it off.
